We have three copies of the newest, redesigned release of the critically acclaimed essential guidebook Dublin on a Shoestring to giveaway.
The latest version of the book, which is edited by resident Dubs Katherine Farmar and Ben Murnane, has been completely rewritten to provide even more recession-busting tips. There’s Must Sees, Eating Out, guides to great value trendy pubs and clubs, where to stay, and even free stuff that not even the locals know about.
It will be available for €9.99 from the end of this month at most good booksellers. At the moment, it’s only currently available from one of the editors, Ben Murnane on his blog here. However, we’re offering three lucky readers the chance to get their hands on it early at a recession-beating price of absolutely free!
All you have to do to win is tell us your top Dublin-centric recession-busting tip. Post your tip in the comments section, and we’ll select the three best answers as our winners.

interesting exhibition and free WIFI if you sign up with them.
Hang around the back of Supervalues at the end of the day, free pastries abound!
Take a stroll through the Botanic Gardens and have a picnic lunch!
Ask for one of those maps from the bus tours then walk to all the cool places yourself
I have received the competition prizes in the post today and (at the risk of sounding a bit salesy) it’s an excellent book – a nice size with an easy layout full of interesting and useful information. This is not just a book for tourists – I think the locals will gain a lot from it too.
I guess we’ll let the competition run another couple of days before picking our winners.
Free newspapers are available in most hotel lobbies.
There are a family of seals by Bullock Harbour near Dalkey who swim right up to the rocks. We were there last Saturday afternoon and they were being fed fish and shrimp. Excellent free entertainment!
K – competition is now closed and we will be selecting the winner shortly. Thank you to everyone who took part.
