improv night at the international
have you ever seena photograph like this…. ?
this is what you might just see if you take a trip to The International Bar on Wicklow Street in Dublin City Centre
This is the comedy improv night.
Running since 1992…… yes you heard me! This is a Monday night gig never to be missed.
I had one of them. It was a Monday. I was bored to pieces. A quick call to my mate Anthony and all of a sudden I’m on a bus. Its costs €7/8 in the door [I don’t think you can go to the cinema for that anymore…? ] but when I consider that a normal comedy gig maybe €20 -40 – then throw in four or five of Irelands finest comedians……. that’s pretty good value as far as I’m concerned.
On the night I went along on stage was Dermot Carmody [of The emergency fame], Kevin Gildea [father ted] and ian coppinger of montreal fame. All legends. We had recorded and interviewed the lads after, but aparently there was a technical issue with the camera we used….. technical….? it was smashed aparently is a technical term now. The gig was amazing. A bit mental, but amazing nontheless! I’d never been to an improv gig before. I’d seen improv on tv…. but the thing I like about this is you simply couldn’t know what to expect. It can’t be a well rehearsed gig. Not when the audience choose the topics….. and that is where the real fun starts.
Go there. Enjoy. Laugh your socks right off. You will. Tell the lads I said hi.
