Come See The Classics…

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Spent a wonderful, if emotional, evening yesterday at the Screen At D’Olier Street at the first of their classic movie screenings, David Lean’s incredible Brief Encounter.

*sigh*

It’s been one of my favourite films ever for years now, just so beautifully told and played and universally true and not just because of my lifelong fixation with the work of Noel Coward either, but it is his finest moment…

They’re showing it one more time this Wednesday at 6.30pm.

The rest of the season looks like this:

MPW-41000

Guys And Dolls

Monday August 10th – 8.30pm

Wednesday August 12th – 6.30pm

b70-10877

The Apartment

Monday August 17th – 8.30pm

Wednesday August 19th – 6.30pm

b70-9639

All About Eve

Monday August 24th – 8.30pm

Wednesday August 26th – 6.30pm

Fair play to the Screen people for running these – I’ve been saying for years that if there was a proper re-run house in Dublin I’d be there all the time and thus I shall. A bunch of us are arranging to go to each of them over the next 4 weeks.

They have a blog too!
