Fans of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, here’s http://6of3.com

Eoin Colfer has just announced the launch of his new venture, http://6of3.com

Colfer, the author of the fantastic Artemis Fowl series among many other books, was chosen to write a sequel to Hitchhiker’s Guide, and has written And Another Thing, released on October 12, 2009.

From the rather brilliant website:

You may not have noticed, but there’s something stirring in the Galaxy…

Despite the efforts of the Vogons, and even those of a more-than-typically troubled teenager, the increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker’s Trilogy continues, much to the delight of its fans (and to the annoyance of the Vogons).

And Another Thing, the 6th book in the Hitchhiker’s trilogy, or rather ‘double trilogy’ as it has now become, has been written by the brilliantly funny Eoin Colfer, international number-one bestselling author of the Artemis Fowl novels.

Colfer is not unaccustomed to strange going-ons and far-fetched story-lines with his celebrated Artemis Fowl novels. Widow Jane Belson said of Eoin Colfer, “I love his books and could not think of a better person to transport Arthur, Zaphod and Marvin to pastures new.”

Pitythe website competitions and events are so UK centric! There are HG2G fans over in Ireland too, you know! Still though – exciting!

  1. Niall says:

I’m an avid Hitchhiker’s fan. I even have the original trilogy (of five) in Dutch! It was my way of motivating myself to learn the language. I’m also quite a big fan of the Artemis Fowl books and Eoin Colfer in general. With that in mind I really, really, really did not want this book to happen. Eric van Lustbader’s travesties of Bourne sequels should prove that only the original author should be allowed add a new book to the canon.

    It had better not suck.

  2. Hmmm…Very interesting project…

  3. Séamus says:

Have an Artemis Fowl book that I’ve yet to read, be interesting to see what Eion does with this. Wonder if the Dirk Gently gauntlet will be taken up as well at some point.

  4. Darren Byrne says:

Yeah, like Niall, I’m a huge Hitchhiker’s fan and am quite dubious about this new offering. I’m remaining optimistic though and look forward to reading it.

    It had better not suck.

  5. Stan says:

Colfer is a funny writer. It will be very interesting to see what he does with this.
