My First Time

mft-high

What do Keith Duffy, Claire Tully, Leigh Arnold and Alan Shortt all have in common?

They are all cast members in a new play to hit Ireland next month called My First Time. And just as you would think, it is about their first sexual experiences. And yours 🙂

In 1998 a website was set up to allow people to anonymously post a story about their first time and it was an instant and huge success. To date they have collected over 70,000 stories from around the world.

Some [were] silly, some sweet, some absurd, some funny, some heterosexual, some homosexual, some shy, some sexy and some downright illegal!

The show will feature the four actors telling hysterical and sometimes heartbreaking stories about the first sexual experiences of various real people . . .not just themselves. They’ll bring to life some of the true stories submitted on the site.

Sounds interesting, possibly cringeworthy and definitely funny to me, I’m looking forward to seeing it.

The show will travel round the country to Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Castlebar. Tickets are priced differently for various venues but all seem to be €25 or €30. You can check it out in the Tickets section of their website.

I imagine someone, somewhere in this production saw the Vagina Monologues and was inspired. The situation though is rife with comedy potential.

You’re probably right about the Vagina Monologues Niall! I’m surprised that such an awful website (the way it’s laid out, not the content) generated so much interest and spawned an off Broadway show and yet the website looks like it hasn’t been updated design wise since 1998!
Still, as you said, rife with potential for laughs and embarrassed giggles 🙂
