Avatar Update

This weekend is set to see the release of the newest trailer showcasing James Cameron’s extraordinary new movie Avatar.ย  The mammoth project has been 14 years in development and mandated the creation of entirely new photographic technology in order to capture the directors epic vision. Some 300 million dollars later the movie will debut in theatres from December 18th. The movie, set in the future, sees paraplegic war veteran Jake, played by Sam Worthington, brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na’vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. The visitors from Earth find themselves at facing off against each other and the locals.

While we wait for the trailer check out these new pictures which have just come out.

Ordinarily I would have include this as part of my daily Morning Report on my own blog but the new images are so cool I had to share them with a wider audience.

Said before that this movie may be a victim of its own hype, and that i think the whole 3D thing is a needless gimmick (however good is looks), but yes, these images are very cool ๐Ÿ™‚ Let’s just hope the finished result doesn’t end up looking like the world’s most expensive-looking game/all flash and no depth. I am a big fan of Cameron (bar Titanic), so hopes are high.
