Avatar Update 2

I’m sorry, I know that I may seem obsessed, but Avatar truly does look like it’s going to be a singularly special movie experience. Today saw the release of the new trailer, which clocks in at 3 minutes and 26 seconds of just pure amazement. Without further ado here it is.

Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington, is a former Marine who was wounded and paralysed from the waist down in combat on Earth. Jake is selected to participate in the Avatar program, which will enable him to walk via computer interaction with a human-Na’vi hybrid (avatar). Jake travels to Pandora, a lush jungle-covered extraterrestrial moon filled with incredible life forms. Pandora is also home to the Na’vi, a sentient humanoid race, who are bright blue, 10 feet tall creatures with tails. The Na’vi live in harmony with their unspoiled world but  but all is about to change as humans encroach deeper into Pandora’s forests in search of valuable minerals.

Here are the latest posters too, if you’re at all interested.

  1. Ronan says:

Film still looks like a video game, but at least the trailer gives an idea of the plot. My opinion of this film has been raised from “meh” to “might be good”.

  2. Keleher says:

Looks interesting and also a difficult story, nothing new even on this world about the powerful wanting more power [$]. Regarding US Marines, no matter their status, Semper Fidelis. Looking forward to seeing this.

  3. Sinéad says:

    Looks. AWESOME.

    Can’t wait for this.

  4. Emlyn says:

Despite my skepticism of the previous trailer and all the hype, i have to admit this is looking a lot better now. Though again – and to agree with Ronan – i hope it doesn’t end up looking like the world’s most expensive video game. But James Cameron is no George Lucas (and i mean that in the most positive way!)

  5. rubot says:

MUCH better than the first trailer..

really looking forward to this now.

  6. Kevin says:

Looks great. The 15 minute preview in September convinced me that this is a must-watch!
