Let’s David O’Doherty – his new CD recorded live at Whelan’s is out now.

Regular readers with great memories may remember Niamho writing about David O’ Doherty‘s live gig in Whelan’s of Wexford St, Dublin last August to record his new album.

A couple of us went – supporting live comedy, don’t ya know – and it was indeed, what it promised to be – a funny, fast and frenetic couple of hours in the company of DOD, his keyboards, his many batteries and his rambling, manic, sometimes dangerous mind.

The place was, as you’d expect for a gig for €5, jammers with fans and supporters (hence the dodgy photo angles), and he gave us a great – pre Edinburgh – show.

Anyhow, the new CD – Let’s David O’ Doherty – is out now – online here and presumably the shops from tomorrow – with 16 tracks in total. Mixed in with ones I’d heard before “(Sent a text (to the person the text was about)”, “Very mild superpowers” and “The inventions that I like“) are imaginatively entitled tracks like “Unnecessarily long offstage intro”, “You better not have illegally downloaded this album”, “You are not the dream audience”; “Your new girlfriend is an arsehole”; “Death by boardgames” and the very hilarious “My beefs 2009”.

Tis only a tenner – and autographed – so, bargain! I was going to write “If it’s anything like the 100 facts about Pandas book, I’d imagine it will be a good gig to listen to“, but eh, I was there so I know it was…
