Don’t Stop the Pop – United State of Pop 2010

Looks like while the rest of us were enjoying/enduring the season of goodwill and family, DJ Earworm was very busy mashing together the top 25 billboard hits of 2010 in to his yearly mashup. He is good at this, he has after all written the book about mashups. This year in music was about, well, going forth and enjoying yourself.

In his own words, “This year’s music tells us to keep going now that we’re up and having fun. In fact, the fun seems to be in such overdrive that it borders on recklessness. Usher urges us to ‘dance like it’s the last night of your life”, and Katy Perry wants us to “run away and don’t ever look back”. Even the songs that aren’t about parties have parties in their videos”. Personally I think the mashup shows that in 2010, the little tool called “autotune” was overused as an effect. Chunks of the track sound as it it was used to put the tune together, but checking the source material shows that its not an added effect for the mash.

So lets party a little.
